Our Background
Lina Schaal has been a private and group piano teacher, with students in the Burlington, Wisconsin area, for 26 years. She is nationally certified for private and group piano and judges piano solo and ensemble events at a number of state and district solo and ensemble festivals and various contests.She has been accompanist for various Haylofter productions such as "Hello, Dolly" and "Quilters", two of her favorites. Lina is the past editor of the newsletter "Piano For Two". She has been organizer and director of several multiple piano concerts and has taken piano ensemble students to the German Fest in Milwaukee for many years to perform.Lina was the organizer of "Piano For Two or More" contest for many years. She is nationally certified through Music Teacher's National Association. She has attended Parkside for Piano Performance, Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and Northwestern University for ensemble and Alverno College for piano pedagogy. Ms Schaal belongs to Racine Music Teacher’s Association ( is a past board member) Madison Area Piano Teacher’s Association and is local chairperson for National Federation of Music Clubs and past chairperson for Guild, another national piano organization.Lina has organized the music department at the newly formed CATHE (Center for the Arts, Technology, Health and Entrepreneurship) in Burlington, Wisconsin.Lina was the bell choir director, for three choirs, for several years at St John's Lutheran Church and School in Burlington, Wisconsin along with being the accompanist for St John's singing choirs and various programs for several years. She also has directed two of the joint bell choir concerts for Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod Bell Choir Festival.She was the organizer and participant of a piano quartet, consisting of 4 pianists and an avid supporter of piano duets and piano duos. She has attended the Weekley and Arganbright duet sessions at La Crosse University. Lina was one of the head pianists at Von Maur in the Chicago area and she also plays professionally as a solo pianist at various locations in Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.Lina has attended the Music Institute of Chicago for Duo Piano Festivals. She also belongs to the Duo Club of Illinois. She is a member of the Oakton Six, a six piano ensemble performing group.
Allison Sorensen is one of the keyboard talents of Intimate Sounds. Allison frequently plays for various musical groups and events at her church and children's school. She is the accompanist for St. John's Lutheran Junior Choir and has recently completed four years as accompanist for Our Savior Lutheran Choir. Allison has been a member of a Piano Quartet and a frequent piano duo/duet partner with Lina Schaal.
Music Director of Flute Chorale and Chamber Flute Ensemble, Lenee Stevens is a private woodwind teacher with students in the Burlington area, having served as a high school and elementary school band director for 25 years in Waterford, Burlington and Kenosha. She is currently the Assistant Conductor of the Burlington Kiwanis Civic Band. For more than 20 years, Lenee has been a faculty member of the UW-Whitewater annual Summer Flute Camp. She has also judged flute events at a number of state and district solo and ensemble festivals. Ms. Stevens has been active as a flute clinician and guest conductor and has conducted the National High School Flute Choir at the National Flute Association Convention and conducted a flute choir reading session in Florida. Lenee has performed as a flutist with the Kenosha, Racine and Beloit/Janesville Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Kenosha Pops Concert Band and Holton-Elkhorn Band. She has also performed twice at the National Flute Association Annual Conference.
